Due to conflicting activities, this ride has been re-scheduled for Sunday, May 22. The ride details will remain the same.
A simple relaxing ride to start the riding season through a little of Colorado's eastern plains and coming back along the foothills. We’ll be traveling about 165 miles, or 182 miles depending on the route we take after lunch. In years past we’ve started our rides from Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza near downtown Colorado Springs. On this ride, since we’ll be heading east initially, we’re going to mix it up a bit and start from the east part of town, specifically the Starbucks on the corner of Powers Blvd. and Stetson Hills Blvd. (6082 Stetson Hills Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80922). We’ll meet at 9 am and roll out at about 9:30. We’ll head east along Hwy 24 towards Limon where we’ll stop for a quick break. Along the way, hopefully, we might pick up an extra rider or two since some of our members live out that way. From Limon we’ll head back west along CO 86 to Kiowa where we’ll stop for lunch at a yummy, as I’ve been told, little pizza place. After lunch we’ll continue west and either turn south at Franktown towards the finish (this is the 165 mile route), or continue through Castle Rock and take Hwy 105 south through Palmer Lake to the finish (182 miles). Our end stop will be The Indigo Bar and Grill on the corner of Powers Blvd. and Barnes Rd. (6120 Barnes Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80922). Here are links to the routes: 165 miles or 182 miles. |
