Hello 2009!
Man am I glad to see the year 2008 in my rear view mirror. I came through it with many scars as I am sure many of you did. For me it was a return visit of my selfish x-wife, the distance of my teen age girls emotionally with the hostilities between Mom and Dad, frustrations surrounding the legal system, judges and bullshit state and federal departments that can have you going back 10 years worth of financial records to prove your innocence when one person lies and then there is the old divorce wounds themselves, lawyers, legal bills, $4.00+ gas prices and don't even mention 401K or retirement as I see clearly I will be working until I am 85. So does the recovery start this year?

Hell yeah it starts over, when your at the bottom there is no way to get back on top than hard work, dedication to your desires and a passion that you won't allow outside interference/hardship to over come your personal goals and desires. It also helps that you have a dedicated wing person (Dee my wife in my case) by my side, don't forget to say thanks to those who were elbow to elbow in 2008 and reward her some way for her dedication. Sorry honey the Kingpin low will have to wait for a bit longer.

So what will we be doing this year? First the long road trips for a this year will be out of the picture, I mean those multi-day, multi state trips as we bring the money back into the household to weather the current economic storms. Is that a bad thing....as a biker your always looking for the next road so it is a disappointment that it won't be happening and I would equate it to clipping the wings of a bird and then caging it. Still we have to sacrifice and that is our starting point

How are we going to recover in 2009 riding! The answer for us is local day trips, hoping to reconnect to the community of Victory riders that has grown distant over the past year as we were preoccupied. My hope is that the community is still there. The past year brought us some tragic news with the loss of riders ranging from accidents to illness, and each one will be dearly missed and contributed by just participating and bringing their smiling faces to our events. Other folks may have had it worse financially and opted or were required to liquidate their bikes to keep food on the table. Yet others may have sold their Victory and possibly bought something else just to keep riding but manage to be hanging on. Those of us that were fortunate enough and made it through still riding, take a moment to reflect and pat yourselves on the back. We are fortunate for our situation even if luck played a roll. Keep yourself humble and mindful of those that no longer ride or ride something else, remember that it may not have been their first choice but have enough passion for the lifestyle to keep riding. If your part of our Victory family regardless of what you ride we hope to see you this year and that blessing are abundant

My hope is that we will see Colorado Victory owners at the season kick off Bar-B-Q to be announced sometime in March. I want to see my riding buddies and old friends and hope you have the same desire to reconnect with the community as I have. Reflect on those rides you have taken and sharing it with the group. We have precious few moments with one another let us put aside the differences and celebrate the biker spirit, lifestyle and the all American pursuit of survival and overcoming hardship that is common in to all of us. You’re not in this alone unless you chose to make it that way. Regardless I wish you the best and hope we see you on the road somewhere in 2009 smiling
